August 2009 Meteor Showers

I saw it…them! August 12th I went outside and was looking at the night sky when swoosh, I saw a meteor fly by. Then a second, then a third! I went back in the house, but I just had to go back outside to see if there would be more…swoosh I saw another. It was really cool.

I went out again tonight, but didn’t see any more. I decided to search online to see if there was any information about what I saw last night, and found a lot. It seems it happens in August’s night sky, and there are people that plan events and camp-outs around this annual night sky event.

I found good information on a NASA blog that explains meteor showers in a way that even I can identify with.
