Can you believe it? It’s 2009! I saw on the TV that Wall Street had a up day for the first day open for the new year. They said, Liza Minnelli rang the bell, and it was fitting since she was the one that sang “Money is what makes the world go around”.  Also, they said that the first open day of the new year usually sets the tone for the rest of the year. I sure hope that sticks this year, because they pointed out that the first day of 2008 was lousy and we all know how last year went.

Well, today is Christmas something… I have trouble remembering if it’s Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day. All I know for sure, is that tonight’s the night Santa is coming around. I hope I get a hermit crab!

Probably not… I don’t think his elves can make animals… can they? Is there anyone that’s ever gotten an animal from Santa before? Hmm… I wonder..

Yikes! the snow just keeps gettin’ higher and higher! I heard that on the west coast there was a storm.. I think around Oregon. I hope everyone’s alright. On the roads over here, everyone slipping and sliding. It’s sooo slippery! I remember that a few years back the roads got so icy by my house, that a lot of people got together and belly-slid across the street! It was very fun- but it was a very non busy road of course. Don’t want to give anybody ideas..

I wonder what type of cookies everyone makes for Santa. I make the typical sugar cookies. I save the other types for myself>.< I like gingerbread, Chocolate chip, and a lot of other kinds.. I watched a move the other night about Santa, and there were a lot of different kinds of cookies. Some I wouldn’t even suspect! I wonder if Santa gets other sweets like cakes and pies, too. I would be so tired after a night of eating so many sweets, i can see why he does it only once a year.

I finally figured out why he’s supposedly makes all the present trips in one night! There’s time zones! I guess it makes sense, but he’d only be able to go around in a certain direction, right? It’s kind of confusing, because he’d still have to go reaaaaly fast. oh well.

I hope it doesn’t snow any more tonight…. It would make it hard for people to go to people’s houses and have a happy Christmas. I have friends that go to other family houses and eat around four dinners a night! That would seem a little much food. If I did that, I probably wouldn’t make it past the second! I wonder how they do it. I just stay cozy at home for Christmas with my family ^.^

I ho-ho-hope everybody has some happy holidays!

I have received a letter from UBI Payment Services, that says I am guaranteed to receive $5,000.00 if…., and is dated “September 11″, thats a little creepy! I quickly spotted “Singapore” on the sending envelope, and “Australia” on the return envelope. They begin by saying “This is a very important statement”, I think of a statement as a bill I pay, unless it says Credit Statement, so my first question is “how much is this going to cost me?”. I do not see the word credit anywhere! As for the puzzle of skill…lol…20+5= 25 21 23 hmmm lets see hmmm…insult! Oh, and why do they require my signature? Ahh…sign to agree to let them send me alot of unwanted junk mail, thats what they are saying in  not so fine print on the back of letter, but very, very faint print on the back of the letter. It is so faint you hardly notice it’s there. Yes, this has SCAM written all over it!!!

Can you believe it? It’s already October 1st, 2008! What happened to September? I just looked up at the calendar and realized I need to print out a October page. I really like the fact that I can go online to www.calendarwerks.com and print a page of a month as needed, and even a whole year if I so choose. It’s pretty cool!

It is finally, officially, the calendar says so AUTUMN!

September 22 marks the Autumn equinox in the northern hemisphere and the spring in the southern hemisphere. Day and night are considered to be near equal in length at the equinox. The term equinox comes from the Latin aequus, which means equal.

I remember making these when I was in about second grade with dried and pressed flowers, a good springtime look. I think the kids will enjoy this project for lovely autumn table settings. HHmmm… Maybe send a set to Grandma’s house.

PRESSED LEAF PLACEMAT

Leaves

Wax paper

Iron

Towel

Measure an approximate size for your placemat. You’ll need two sheets of wax paper per placemat. Cut, measure and set aside. Gather your leaves. Place one sheet of wax paper (wax side up) on your work surface. Add leaves at will, no more than one layer thick. Add top layer of wax paper, wax side down.

Place a thin towel over your arrangement. Using an iron set on low, slowly and carefully press the iron into the placemat and glide across surface. Repeat after flipping placemat over. Allow to cool.

Trim edges and enjoy!

Yes, today is the first day of summer and the longest day of sunlight for those in the northern hemisphere. I just love it. Every thing is green and blooming again. The birds are out and cheerfully eating as many bugs as they can…go birds!

“April showers bring May flowers”, but it keeps snowing! Well, I guess that saying doesn’t say what kind of showers bring the May flowers. But, the snow showers sure make it difficult to get the flowers started, or even the garden ready for that matter.

It’s our first year with our new big yard. Last weekend we trimmed a tree and raked a bit, then went to the hardware store and purchased a new shovel, hoe, pruners, garden gloves, rakes and a long handled lopper. Yep, it was warm and smelled of spring as the trees in the new big yard were beginning to show signs of buds and new growth. My mind was getting all fired up with ideas for flower gardens and what to put where. Then in one night it snowed over a foot of snow and the snow shovels had to come back out for much needed use, and the kids got another snow day.

Today warmed up to 50 degrees and the birds are out and about again. I hope the next shower is just rain and I can soon begin to use my new dirt shovel and begin to plant flowers!

Well, Its done we bought a house and have moved in. Unpacking is in slow mode, but thats OK. Christmas decorating and gift purchasing still got done and went well. The new furniture is on its way, after searching for days at seven furniture stores. Yay! Now we can pick a paint color for the walls in the living room, the mint green has to go! There is much to do, but we can take our time, there really is no big rush to get it all done yesterday.

We have turned back the clocks and the weather is getting colder, and less time is being spent outside playing ball. The kids are inside and a bit restless, so out come the games for our family enjoyment. I am so glad my children enjoy board games. I remember spending a lot of time playing board games as a child with my mother. We would play a lot of thinking games, not just test of luck, such as Scrabble, Mind-bender, Clue to mention a few of my childhood favorites.

My children like their computer games and Nintendo, but our favorite board game to play as a family is the Icosagame. It is enjoyable for all of us and is lead free and made right here is America, which is becoming a very rare find. My children enjoy it so much that they give the Icosagame as birthday gifts to their friends.

Well, it has happened…most of the leaves have left their trees. Just when we finish raking all the neighbors leaves from our yard, our own tree lets loose its leaves for the winter. Every year it waits till every other tree in the neighborhood is void of leaves before it even begins to let go. I still am not sure what kind of tree it is, but have grown quite fond of it, it is quite a beautiful tree.

This last summer I would sit in my lawn chair and watch the butterflies fly among the branches and drink the sap from the branches. I would watch as the woodpeckers would come and tap tap tap to get the sap flowing again, then the butterflies would go back to drinking the sap. They would do this for hours every day. Wow, what a site!

Well, the scientific report is in and I heard it with my own ears. Scientists have found that there is a physical reason pregnant women are so forgetful.

I remember, “now that I can remember”, just how frustrating it was to suddenly begin forgetting the simplest things, “why did I walk over here?”, “hhmmm I know I came to the store for something, but what was it?”. I knew I was not the only one to go through this, but really didn’t know exactly why we did. I have to say it helps to have a understanding person to remind you that your not alone and it is temporary.

Now, research shows that pregnancy causes a woman’s brain to shrink about 8%, which causes forgetfulness. They also said it takes about six months after the delivery of the baby for the brain to return to normal size and full memory to return.

So, now my new question is, “does it make a difference in the time it takes to return to normal size if the new mother breast feeds her new baby?” and if so how long?

Hi everyone!

Just saying Hi and wondering if you heard about the lipstick and lip gloss brands….

Well even if you have I will say it for the people who haven’t, research shows that most lipstick and lip gloss brands have lead in their products!!!

You might wanna reconsider these items because people lick their lips a lot ( I should know… I’m one of them) and when you lick your lips you just might be licking lead into your body.

Think about that sports fans…

It is getting harder and harder to find a good family game that is made in the USA and not in China. Games and toys made in China have been in the spotlight on the news and in general conversation a lot lately.

My family enjoys playing games and even inventing new ones. We especially enjoy playing the Icosagame, which is made in the USA! I plan to send some out this Christmas as gifts for family and friends. So, if you are looking for a game for you and your family and friends I suggest taking a look at Icosagame.
